India bags $23.5 million prize after third T20 World Cup win.

 India’s dominant men’s cricket team will receive $23.5 million (US$14m) after winning the Twenty20 World Cup for a record third time, the country’s cricket board announced on Tuesday.

According to a report by NZ Herald, the co-hosts and pre-tournament favourites defeated New Zealand by 96 runs in Sunday’s final in Ahmedabad, becoming the first team to successfully defend the T20 World Cup title and also the first to win it on home soil.

A district court judge has reserved his decision on whether Papatoetoe could face a rare by-election, following serious allegations of voting irregularities in Auckland’s most recent local body elections. The ruling, expected before Christmas, could have significant implications for public confidence in New Zealand’s postal voting system. The case was heard at Manukau District Court and stems from a petition lodged under the Local Electoral Act by former Ōtara-Papatoetoe Local Board member and deputy chair, Lehopoaome Vi Hausia.
